We manage a broad spectrum of acute and chronic illness, along with a focus on preventive medicine and health education. Rahona Family Practice is an affiliated training practice with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI).

Rahona Family Practice does not discriminate based on gender identity or sexual orientation. We are supportive to all our patients of their individual circumstances. Please inform us what gender or non binary pronoun you prefer.

Our History

The name Rahona continues a family tradition. Dr. Carty’s grandfather, Dr. William Shannon, was a General Practitioner in West Clare in a small area outside Carrigaholt called “Rahona”. He lived and cared for the local community from his surgery and his home “Rahona House”.

Her father, also Dr. William Shannon, worked as a GP from his own GP surgery, which he called “Rahona House” in Bishopstown, Cork from 1969 to 1987. This practice is still in existence today!
