At our Practice, Medical Certificates (Sick Notes) are issued in accordance with standard GP and medical guidelines.
New Sick Certificates (Work / School)
If you require a sick certificate:
- You must book an appointment with a doctor
- The doctor will carry out a medical assessment to determine if you are unfit for work or school
- The fee for this consultation and certificate is €70
Please note:
- We do not issue sick certificates without a consultation
- Certificates are only provided where medically appropriate
Extension of Existing Certificates
If you have already received a certificate from our practice:
- An extension may be issued without a consultation, depending on the circumstances
- This is at the doctor’s discretion
- The fee for a certificate extension is €20
In some cases, the doctor may still request a review appointment before extending a certificate.
Additional Information
- Medical certificates are legal documents and must be clinically justified
- Patients are advised to attend as early as possible during their illness
- We are generally unable to provide certificates for periods where the patient was not assessed
